The founding of this country came as a result of fighting for freedom, fighting against an oppressive government, an ocean away, that was dictating to the people what they could and could not do.
When we declared liberty and our own young nation was born, the founders feared what could eventually become of their own government. They knew that absolute power corrupts absolutely. They knew that freedom was what they fought for and freedom was what they had to protect above and beyond all else. That is why the constitution was created. It was created to protect the people from the government. It was a document that restricted governmental control. It gave power to the people.
Today that truth is long forgotten by many, especially those serving in the government, who swore to protect and uphold the constitution. They have somehow manipulated and misinterpreted the constitution to be a document that grants governmental control. They believe it gives power to them, not to the people.
